the Barn

Hi! I am Mark Kwiecienski and Manager of Vail Drive Barn.   Hosting an event Barn is a new endeavor for me.  But like everything else I do, I give it my best and always pursue excellence. This is a new chapter of my life after having returned to the place where I grew up after a 35-year stay high up in the mountains of Colorado.

Us & Mission

For now, the “Us” is the manager, Mark Kweiecienski plus some part time help who will assist engaging your choice of subcontracted food catering and other subcontracted services you desire. 

Spaces & Capacity

The barn’s default setup offers a balanced mix of dining and conversational space, ideal for cozy gatherings even on rainy days.

The Barn measures 24 x 48 feet with 12-foot-high vertical walls. It has sliding doors on three sides that can be closed if the weather turns really foul. The sound of rain on the tin roof is musical. This particular setup seats 48 with 2 serving tables on side wall using half the barn.

The default setup is what you saw on the previous page and on this one, which together is a balanced mix of dining and conversational space inside if event day is rainy. Without additional tent setup on the lawn, a party of between 50 –60 can comfortably socialize and dine inside. If more are expected, an additional lawn tent may be installed on the big lawn.  There is also a big wooden table that seats 10 and a small round one that seats four as part of the standard setup.

On  most days, the spacious lawns surrounding the barn make the perfect spaces to mingle or customize your prefered indoor/outdoor event seating and lawn mix.

The lush lawn on the northern side of barn  has afternoon shade.  The furniture setup can by customized for your event. 

Lodging

Located only 1/2 mile from exit 24 off I 91. The barn road approach is pristine Vermont. Only 2 miles from Lyndonville, 6 miles from East Burke and the wonderful Kingdom Trails network, and nine from Saint Johnsbury. Lodging is available at multiple Airbnbs,  Lyndon Motor Lodge, the Comfort Inn in St. Johnsbury.as well as at the Burke Mt Hotel and the Wildflower Inn, Inn at Mt. View Farm,

Seating For Larger Groups

The seating can match your preference. For groups of more than 60 if you want to ensure covered seating in case of rain, adding a tent is recommended. Weather permitting, some seating can be outside in the shade and some in the sun.

50 additional Ten Snyder Palmer brand chairs and 96-inch plastic white or grey tables are also available.   A collection of baskets and bowls are on site to use for florals or keepsakes.

Restroom

A Porta Potti and water hand wash basin is located in this building. It is professionally cleaned by prior to each event. On the walls of the building and of those of the barn are great places for hanging custom event art or messaging. The xc trail signs can be taken down for your event if desired.

Easy to Find, Hard to Forget

The Vail Drive Barn is located adjacent to the lower part of the private and awesome Lyndon XC ski/snowshoes trails that provide by donation only funded XC skiing in winter. The trails are spectacular and diverse and are mowed regularly in the spring, summer and fall months for walking. A nice feature for your event could be group bonding trail walks or if you want some alone time. a walk just for you!  The trail map shows the barn location. Parking for barn events is provided by 56 parking spaces in the Miller Run Oval area below the barn. Caterers may setup on the west gravel area of the barn or east lawn of barn—weather dependent.

What is your vision?  Please include the dates you are considering for hosting an event. If there is a first and second choice of dates that both work, that would be helpful.  If you have an approximate number of people that you would like to attend, that would be nice to know too.
